The Pasco L. Schiavo Fund of the Luzerne Foundation has dedicated $50,000 in matching grants to the CAN DO Community Foundation for the betterment of Ferrwood Music Camp. This means that every dollar a donor gives is doubled to help children in need enjoy, learn and love music.  Please take advantage of this opportunity to truly make a difference for Ferrwood.

Schiavo Fund of the Luzerne Foundation has dedicated $50,000 in matching grants to the CAN DO Community Foundation for the betterment of Ferrwood Music Camp. The CAN DO Community Foundation is continuing its preservation efforts and is presently making enhancements to the current bandshell. Renovations will include a turn of the century façade, modernized classroom space, and ADA compliant restroom accommodations, along with the addition of new contemporary lighting and sound systems.

Earl C. Berger, Chairman of the CAN DO Community Fund Drive stated that this generous match is timely, as the Foundation’s Annual Fund Drive has just begun.

Attorney Pasco Schiavo was a friend to the arts community. He was a long-time supporter of the Foundation and enjoyed hearing about the restoration efforts at Ferrwood. Sadly, Pasco passed in 2018 but through the Pasco L. Schiavo Fund of the Luzerne Foundation, his good works and legacy continue.

The Luzerne Foundation is proud to partner with the CAN DO Community Foundation to continue Pasco's legacy of support for local arts and education. “Pasco loved our community and worked every day to better it” said David Pedri, President and CEO of the Luzerne Foundation.  “This matching grant guarantees that Ferrwood Music Camp will continue to grow and support the next generation of our musically inclined youth” continued Pedri.

Each summer since 1967, youth from our community have honed their music skills at Ferrwood Music Camp. The historic country setting is home to programs that support education; healthy mind, body and spirit; mentorship; art; cultural experiences; music; camaraderie and good old-fashioned summer fun!
